What is the United States Championship Cheese Contest?

The United States Championship Cheese Contest® is the nation’s premier technical cheese, butter, and yogurt competition. 2019 marks the 20th biennial edition, hosted by the Wisconsin Cheese Makers Association. We invite you to submit your quality cheeses, butters, dry dairy ingredients and yogurts to the contest to compete for global recognition.

When is the U.S. Championship Cheese Contest?

The United States Championship Cheese Contest is held biennially in March. The next USCCC will be March 5 -7, 2019 in Green Bay, Wisconsin.

How does the judging work?

Entries are evaluated by a team of skilled technical judges from across the nation. Starting from a maximum possible 100 points, deductions are made for various defects found by each judge. Defects are noted in the areas of flavor, body and texture, salt, color, finish, packaging, and other appropriate attributes. A Gold medal, Silver medal and Bronze medal are awarded to the three highest scoring entries in each class.

Can I attend the Contest?

The Contest judging is open for free public viewing on March 5 and 6, 2019 in the Lambeau Field Atrium in Green Bay, Wisconsin.

Thursday evening, March 7, we host a ticketed event in Green Bay, Cheese Champion, to announce the United States Champion.  All tickets are sold in advance are available for purchase here.

When do entries need to arrive by?

Entries are to be sent to arrive at WOW Logistics Warehouse in Little Chute, Wisconsin by Wednesday, February 20.
Shipment details and instructions will be sent to entrants once entry closes.
If you used MyEntries to submit your products to the Contest, shipping tags are auto-filled with your product information in your account.
Find the “Print Your Shipping Tags” button.
Note: each entry should be sent in its own box with a shipping/ identification tag on the outside and another on the inside.

Do I send our product with or without labels?

You may send your products in their original packaging, with or without labels.
Gold, silver and bronze winners will be displayed at the Cheese Industry Conference held April 17-18, 2019 in Madison, Wisconsin.

How do I get my scoresheets after the judging is complete?

Scoresheets are available in your secure MyEntries account as soon as judging is complete.  Just login to your account and click on View Your Results and Scoresheets.  You can then view and print your scoresheets.

If we won, how do we receive our awards?

The United States Championship Cheese Contest hosts the awards banquet at the Cheese Industry Conference  in Madison, Wisconsin, on April 18, 2019. Winners receive one ticket to the banquet for each gold, silver or bronze winning product. Wisconsin Cheese Makers Association will send out an email to all winners with instructions on registration. WCMA will also ask if your company is attending the banquet, if you plan to not attend, we will ship your awards directly to you.
